this is great im lovin whats happening here

if people are interested in theory this site is hardcore, it has all the equations for heat transfer and means to calculate which setups are most effecient. and best part is if your too lazy to figure it out theres some example solutions at the bottom to help you through it(theres a good amount of asumptions that need to be made so it helps). this site is completly legit and i sited alot of info of this site for a semester report in fluid dynamics on intercoolers and did very well so the methodology has been looked over by a professor with doctorate(all these equations and charts are in any fluid dynamics book too). if your into theory or care about the efficiency of your intercooler u'll love this site.....

WOW that's awesome stuff... I'd really like to do that to my car.

he only added 8lbs of weight but increased the rigidity almost 30%

Not to mention it acts like noise deadening material... this is perfect for ANY build be it a track car or a daily cruiser.

My only concern is running it through a pillar that has wires in it and not being able to ever access those wires again. Also if you screw something up it's next to impossible to fix it

yup, and you cant weld that area of car. If you have rust to fix then do it first and fill later

My only other concern is some foams shrink over time. I dont know if this one will Will that foam start rattling around in 2 years when its a little loose? its hardly for the faint of heart but if OEM's are doing it then it cant be all bad. Results of doing it are amazing

I would think your best bet is to find who makes what the OEMs are using and buy that... if nothing else you'll be sure to get one that will last the life of the car.

I'd be interested in what this stuff would do if added to the sub frame and other under-body rails. or if there is any benefit to using it in those places at all.

frame rails I can see
subframe I would be hesitant. The bushings are crap but the metal there is pretty damn beefy
I would think the car itself in the pillars would be the biggest gain.
I cant wait to do it, but I have a lot of welding to tackle before I really can.

I would be more likely to call the manufacturer of the foam when I am ready to do my car and ask questions. Its funny people get all googly eyed when I say stuff like that. People ask me a question about products and my response is to talk to the people who made it. I have made phone calls to japan on more than 1 occasion

in my experience calling the manufacturer is hit or mis... I'd say 6 out of 10 times I can't even get past the answering service on to someone who knows what they're talking about and then the remaining 4 times is a toss up as to whether I'll get someone helpful or someone who just wants to get me off the phone leaving me questioning weather or not the answers I got were valid.

on rare occasions I'll get someone who wants to give me to much information. I called to question something about a Op Amp I had once and the engineer, not able to email me the schematic (since it was in dead tree format and he had no scanner), was insistent on describing it to me over the phone!

Though the way I look at it, even with bad odds, you don't lose anything by calling.
