edit: ...to do it right

im planning on fabricating as much as possible. which is going to greatly help the price come down. the motor and trans should not cost more than 4k. and from my experience trying to hunt down accurate cross refrence parts it will be way worth it to be able to ask for parts at any parts store

yeah if I had waited until I found a complete LS1 pull out of an F-body with the 6 speed, and I fabricated my own mounts I could have easily saved $2500 right off the top...

Instead I went with the slightly more powerful (and more expensive) Vette Motor, which meant I need to adapt to a drive-by-wire throttle (~extra $150), it also meant I needed to get a transmission separate (more expensive) as well as all new clutch hardware (~extra $400)... and the mount crap is like $800-$1500 depending on which setup you go with... so that's a lot of $$ saved

i voted for the KA of course. Gotta rep the KA-T.

If i money to blow i'd love to do an LS build. My buddy has a 94 corvette so he'd get a kick out of it. even though my KA-T put down better numbers on the dyno. tehe.

KA-T has been my thing since i got my license (even tho i've never actually completed one without parting everything out) so i vote KA!!! cheap motors, easy wiring, and the KA-T following seems to multiply yearly.

rb26 is king but the sr20 is the lil guy that will give the rb26 a hard time , haha. I gotta say my sr20 hasnt let me down yet, so i gotta vote for the SR. Its so light and When you build it right, with a nice clutch, amazing things happen. haha 2 evos and 1 subby from a dig on a t28 , not bad at all. Cant wait for the turbo upgrade. Mad love for the CA18 too ! Dont sleep.
