Default issues getting the tranny back in

so my clutch plate exploded thursday, so i took the tranny out with no issue, did the clutch and flywheel swap, and did the pilot bearing in the process, now im trying to get the tranny back up and in place (while the car is on jackstands in my garage) and i cant get the bellhousing up high enough to get the shaft in place. i tried turning the tranny on its side so it can be slid on than rotated in place but that hasnt been working either. am i missing somthing? a trick everyone knows except me?

With the fan shroud removed and engine mount bolts loosened from the bottom half way using your cars factory scissor jack push the top of your motor against the radiator support. This should help point the engine down into the ground to make life easier for you. Hope that helps.

1. loosen the 4 17mm nuts holding the subframe so the engine drops a little (never actually had to do this, but it works for some people)

2. be a man

I had to remove all 4 subframe bolt and lower my engine like 4 inches to get mine in. I have no idea why mine wasn't even close.

i have a low profile motorcycle jack i was using on the tranny and my floor jack was under the oil pan trying to tilt the motor back a little on loosened motor mounts, still couldnt get it up the half inch needen to slide the shaft in place. i couldnt do it the first 5 times i tried, so i got a friend to come try, he had the same issue. if i drop the subframe down a little will my alignment be thrown off atall? i was thinking wrapping a tow strap around my block and lifting the motor off the motor mounts, removing them, attatching the tranny, than replacing them. wasnt my idea but it was a 2 on one decision on the best way to do it. this thing is just giving me a real hard time. what should had taken a day has lengthened itself into 4

sometimes mounting the tranny with the motor out is a pain. but then all of a sudden snap, the tranny and motor go together. the input shaft and the bearing need to be 100% lined up to come together. sometimes giggling the tranny while installing helps.
