S13 engine bay paint choice

about to respray it. help me decide!

gloss black or aztec red.

the chassis is aztec red and will likely stay aztec red.

I have a question before the vote. Will you be painting the engine at all or just cleaning it up?

direct swap. no painting. maybe a little scrub down. might switch valve cover once i get my blacktop vc powder coated.

I voted Aztec red, I feel it will make the engine stand out better. More of a pain to clean but looks better imo in the long run.

the red will look better i think... though i did do 2 coats primer, 3 goats gloss, and 2 coats clear in my engine bay on my ast swap... came out really good but never got the chance to see it get dirty.

i'd paint it a dark deep gold or a gunmetal color. i'm not too much of a fan of either red or black. i love white motor bays but so hard to keep clean. i have a black motor bay and it hides way too much of my motor bay. when people see my car vs pictures it looks totally different. i can't capture anything of my motor bay with pictures. sort of like people dont understand in pictures the extent of the wire tuck i did. i also like motor bays that are a different color than the car. mine is hardly different. satin black outside, gloss black bay. i originally intended to paint my car a shade of blue, but funds kept me back.

when i did my motor bay, i didnt necessarily count how many coats i did, but sprayed, let dry and wet sanded till i was happy. i did the same with clear..

well i picked between the 2 colors of your choice.

i chose black. black matches with mostly everything. if it's dirty, it wouldnt look too dirty.

also if you wanna paint your car again later, you can keep the engine bay black and won't have to pull the motor.
