Default Vert RB26 Rebirth "Sleepy Demon"

Decided now that I've begun finally doing things to the car that I want and righting the wrongs (pretty much redoing all of it) that I'd start a new build thread. Especially since the other is over 65 pages long hahaha.

Here is a link to the old build for those who haven't seen it already
http://forums.240sxone.com/showthread.php?t=9964

Without further ado I'll kick this off with a slight recap and current update

2+ years ago I tracked down the source of my lag, poor running and rich mixture issue which was the rear turbocharger manifold gasket had blown out in the rear most corner. Pulled the turbos and found the turbos beginning to leak in the exhaust housing. Decided to rebuild them with steel wheels and found the housings cracked at the wastegate flap sealing surface so after some thought I decided to get things done right in my eyes for once, partly atleast until the full tear down and true power adders once I buy my house.

Replaced cracked exhaust side turbo housings with good ones from a friend in Japan. Rebuilt the stock R32 turbos with steel wheel 360* washer kits and sent out for balancing at GPop shop. Installed 15psi Turbosmart wastegate actuators and installed, clocked them and check fitment

Installed steel braided oil and coolant lines and purchased new factory drain hoses and brand new factory front and rear O2's.

Tomei goodies were next. New tomei turbo manifolds and O2 dump pipes which I'm currently waiting to get back from Jet-hot getting their 2000deg black ceramic coating.

Did a test fitment before shipping them off for coatings to make sure things fit proper.

Decided while I was waiting to finally replace both front lower control arms and check how things looked from sitting. Even though having not touched the suspension the entire last 4 years I lived and MA and it sitting in the garage for the last 2 years everything still looked in good order.

Ball joints were completely locked up in the knuckles so I brought them in to work to give them a proper 24oz beating lol and decided to give them a good cleaning and freshening.

Thinking about replacing the leaking rack now but I think I'll wait until I break it all down in the garage once I buy a house hopefully this upcoming year.

Next on the list is to finally re-modify or replace the Apexi downpipe for higher clearance once I get the manifolds back to see how it all sits. Also fabing up new 3" aluminum Intercooler piping and junking this half assed 2.5" steel crap.

Hope you all enjoy the build as I finally gain the time to do it how I want

Small update

Stripping some stuff off the car, fabricating new 3" intercooler piping, getting a new intercooler because of how twisted and banged up this one is from when I hit that curb years ago.
Thinking about doing a high mount intercooler setup to shorten piping length and effectively increasing response but may save that for after it's moved to my house garage.
Jet-Hot shipped my manifolds out Thursday and I should have them this week so I can finally begin mounting all of it back up and installing the rebuilt turbos and braided lines.

If I recall, those HMIC are a pain to do with pop ups.

Yeah, I came up with that conclusion as well. I think I'll be saving it for when I get the Garret BB twins and do the rest once I move.
The idea I'm having is to use a slightly thicker core same length but 2 inches shorter so I can mount the inlet and outlets as high as possible below the headlights while not having the core be so low. So I guess it wouldn't be a true high mount but still an idea in my head. Of course if I come up with that it wouldn't be that much improvement then I'll keep what I got no harm no foul.

Late night for me, still a lot to get done but some good updates here

What's in the box?!

Tomei Manifolds back from Jet Hot with black 2000 deg ceramic coating

Cleaned up the sealing surface and installed and torqued the manifolds down with the new Tomei multi-layer gaskets

Picked up new O2 sensors and installed them in the coated housings and torqued the blocks and sensors up

Got these for work a while ago because BMW can make some tight fit nightmares and they're about to come in handy to get this thing going

Inspected the turbos again and set the wastegate actuators and ensured operation was good. These actuators have a 15psi spring and diaphragm.

Another test fit for the hundredth time

Found the rear turbo needed to be clocked a little more so it was good I did test fit it all again and after clocking it I had to reset the wastegate actuator again on the rear turbo

Balanced and awaiting the nice break in period

Stopping for the night, next on the list is the oil and cooling line fittings. I left the rear turbo out and the front in I'll see how the lines meet up to the front turbo and how the fittings should be fitted and mirror that to the other turbo and then torque the fittings all down and then remove the turbos again for o2 housing fitment and torquing before fully installing the turbos on the engine

If youre gonna make your own lines and fittings and stuff, I'll hook you up with good prices through work on vibrant/russell unless you have another plug.

Won't be making any yet but once the car is moved and I start the 550 build I will be making some. I'll definitely hit you up, thanks man. Curious though, what about vibrant piping? Still need more to do the intercooler piping.

Our distributor can get anything vibrant makes, so whatever you need. Get me part numbers. We used a generic cxracing intercooler kit with my car. Had plenty of piping leftover.
