Well I went about removing my transmission this weekend not by choice sadly. I read about this sensor thing on the very TDC of the transmission. I got the transmission lowered and sure enough it snapped even thought I was VERY careful to not to lower it to much to fast so as to reach up and get the thing off. Then I heard *SNAP!* and yeah it broke. Nissan I swear when designing some of these peice's didnt take into account that some people wont drop the whole entire front subframe to remove a transmission.
Anyways I looked on one of the parts sites you guys have listed and after ALOT of digging I found the part and its called a Sensor Assy-Magnet it was listed under the ECU section of parts. Just curious as to what the hell this thing does and do I really need it?!?! The part cost about $50 and part of me is severly tempted to break out the super glut and pray it works lol. Also gonna trim off some of the metal protection for future use for easier acess. 1995 240SX SE |

I'm not entirely sure but I believe s14s have a magnetic sensor that reads the position of the flywheel (ie: crank sensor)... I'm not sure how vital it is for things to function properly.

Yeah from my digging I have a feeling its also called a crank sensor. First outing in a Manual and 240SX in general
Its the metal tab if you will on the top of the transmission.

yeah I believe it only exists for OBDII regulations which is why S13s don't have it.
you might get a CEL if it's broken though...

Just ordered a new one from Village Automotive.. will cost me $40 give or take.
I'd perfer not to live with a CEL incase anything else happens yanno. Sadly may have to hold off on putting the transmission back in till I get this. Its a MAJOR PIA to get to this as I'm sure some of you know. |
